Plato and Aristotle both thought Philosophy 'begins in wonder'. The aim of the group, is to bring some of that wonder to you. However, what exactly are philosophers wondering about? Answers to that question will include, wondering about why we live in a lawful universe (a universe which has laws of science)?, why is the universe amenable to mathematics? We ask why is there be something and not noting at all? We ask, in the light of the above, if there are universal truths inherent in the universe and how should that inform our ethics?
The study of philosophy has undergone a revival recently, as humanity grapples to understand AI and importantly, the implications of our inventions. Now more than ever, it is important to remember our past, so that we may have a future.
Doing Philosophy should help us think critically about the ideas we come across daily from the TV and newspapers. Philosophy is thus more useful than people may suppose, helping us to see the sense, from the non-sense.
