HELP & SUPPORT

If you have a Group Supporter (because your group is new or recently changed), please contact them.  If not, contact our Group Support Team.  If you don’t know who your IT Supporter is, please contact the IT Support Team.

Subject advisers

They are volunteers with the national u3a and can provide advice about a group in their specialist subject area, as well as resources and ideas.  They can be contacted via the National u3a website.

Sharing information

It can be good to share information about your group’s activities, and this can be done:

  • on our website
  • on our Facebook page
  • in our u3a newsletter/magazine.  Our editor always welcomes news from group activities that can be shared with our membership, especially in the quarterly magazine.  Please send text, and pictures if you have them, to the editor by the 17th of the month.

Problem solving

Sometimes issues can arise within a group that disrupt the smooth running and can spoil the enjoyment for everyone.

  • If you have a problem, start to make written notes.
  • Don’t leave a problem too long before trying to resolve it.
  • Talk to the Group Support Team if you are unsure what to do, or if you just want to explore your options.
  • Where there is friction, try to bring it into the open.
  • Try to facilitate a discussion with those affected.
  • Remain neutral and non-judgemental.
  • If you cannot reach a resolution informally, speak to the Group Support Team.
  • If a situation does not resolve or if it deteriorates, the problem must be dealt with. In such cases, thankfully rare, the Group Support Team can escalate the problem for more formal action.
