This month we looked at DDay from both a national and local point of view. We considered an overview of Operation Overlord and the deception techniques employed by the Allies. We heard about the involvement of local men and relatives of our speakers. The role of local airfields was highlighted. We also looked at the part played by Bletchley Park and the vital importance of the weather forecasting.

Our table of delights included newspapers of the time and an assortment of books and photos.

This meeting has provided an excellent preparation for our DDay themed guided tour of the American Cemetery, Madingley, next month.
