As a group this book was well liked and well written. Celeste Ng dealt with a number of issues including surrogate birth adoption and abortion. The different roles of motherhood between the two families was a focus throughout the book and felt to be relative to parenthood today.
Celeste Ng spent some of childhood in an area similar to Shaker Heights.
