Peter May started as a journalist,winning a award at 21 and later went into tv dramas and books.

A mystery murder mixed with intriguing 1979 politics. There were good descriptions in the plot especially of the weather. The involvement of Tania Slater an autistic daughter instigated discussion on changes in attitudes towards autism. We enjoyed this book and would read more of this author at some time.
