I am Roger Beaman and am very keen to set up a u3a Sailing Group.

Having taken up dinghy sailing while at school, I became involved in yacht sailing some years later and am the part owner of a 37ft yacht, based on the River Orwell between Ipswich and Felixstowe. I am qualified to Yachtmaster Offshore and have logged many days of yacht sailing during the past 25 years. This includes a multi-day crossing of the Bay of Biscay a few years ago as part of a trip from Brixham to Porto.

I am keen to hear from other members who have recent sailing experience and are interested in day sailing on the east coast. There would be no charge for the use of the boat, but the cost of transport to and from the boat and food for the day would be on a shared basis.

As anyone with sailing experience will know, its highly weather dependent and therefore will require flexibility regarding potential dates. To make the day worthwhile, I would envisage leaving the St Ives area by 9 am and it will probably be at least 7:30 pm by the time we return. If this is of interest to you, please let me know.
